Exterior glass at the Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportation in Sioux City

Museum · Sioux City, IA · 2024

Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportation

Aviation museum at Sioux Gateway Airport.

The need: Heat, glare and UV fading on the exhibits.

The film: LLumar Dual-Reflective DR15.

About this film: Mirror-like from outside but low-glare from inside, so the view stays clear when the lights come on. Lets in about 15% of visible light, turns back roughly 71% of the sun’s heat and screens out more than 99% of UV, the rays that fade exhibits.

Front entrance of the Siouxland Mental Health Center Child and Adolescent Center in Sioux City

Healthcare · Sioux City, IA · 2023

Siouxland Mental Health Center — Child and Adolescent Center

A former Pier 1 Imports store, empty since January 2020, renovated for its new use. WFC worked as a subcontractor to Koskovich & Murphy Construction.

The need: The old solar film on every window had failed: bubbling, peeling and coming apart. The center wanted privacy without making the rooms too dark.

The film: LLumar Reflective R20 (silver).

About this film: Mirrored on both sides for maximum heat rejection, roughly 80% of solar heat, plus strong daytime privacy. Admits about 15% of visible light and blocks more than 99% of UV.

Office corridor with frosted glass partitions in dark frames

Office · Downtown Sioux City · 2026

4th Street Downtown Office

Downtown office building under new ownership.

The need: Add privacy to the interior glass but keep natural light moving through the space.

The film: Etched frost decorative film.

About this film: Frost changes how the glass looks rather than how it handles heat. It gives privacy around the clock, day or night, and soft light still passes through. Our first choice for office glass.

NIPCO office glass in Le Mars, Iowa

Utility · Le Mars, IA · 2025

NIPCO — Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative

Member-owned cooperative that generates and transmits power for distribution co-ops across western Iowa.

The need: Privacy and security: stop people outside from seeing in.

The film: LLumar Reflective RN07G, the one-way mirror film.

About this film: Very dark and highly mirrored outside: about 6% visible light and roughly 84% of solar heat turned away. The mirror works toward the brighter side, so it hides the inside by day. At night, with lights on indoors, the effect flips.

Great Southern Bank branch exterior in downtown Sioux City

Bank · Downtown Sioux City · 2025

Great Southern Bank — Downtown Sioux City

Repeat client: we had already installed LLumar Dual-Reflective 15 at their Morningside branch.

The need: Late-day sun put glare on computer monitors. This branch did not want a mirror look.

The film: LLumar Deluxe DL15.

About this film: A darker tint with almost no mirror effect inside or out. It tames glare and adds some privacy without the reflective look. Lets in about 15% of visible light and turns back over half of the sun’s heat.

Interior glass partitions in an office building in Dakota Dunes

Office · Dakota Dunes, SD · 2025

Tyson Foods / Dakota Dunes Building

Office floor split between tenants.

The need: Privacy on the glass partitions between tenant spaces.

The film: LLumar decorative frost.

About this film: Frosted film diffuses the view through the glass but keeps the space bright, and the privacy works day and night.

Office building with mirrored window film in Lawton, Iowa

Telecom office · Lawton, IA · 2026

WIATEL — Western Iowa Telephone Association

Telephone and internet provider based in Lawton, Iowa.

The need: Cut down the heat and glare coming in. The added privacy was a bonus.

The film: LLumar Reflective RN07G, the one-way mirror film.

About this film: One of the strongest heat-control films in the LLumar line: about 84% of solar heat turned away, with only about 6% of visible light let in. Privacy works in daytime, when outside is brighter than inside.

Exterior of a modern two-story home with tall windows in Kingsley, Iowa

Home · Kingsley, IA · 2025

Kingsley home

Two-story home with tall living-room glass.

The need: Less heat, with some rooms lighter than others but one consistent look throughout.

The film: LLumar Dual-Reflective: DR15 on the top panes, DRN25 on the bottom panes.

About this film: The Dual-Reflective series runs from dark (DR05) to light (DRN35), all with the same look outside and low reflection inside. That made it possible to vary the darkness by height without the house looking patched together.

Residential window film →
Exterior of a modern home with large windows in Dakota Dunes

Home · Dakota Dunes, SD · 2025

Dakota Dunes home

Large windows across the back of the house.

The need: Cut the heat without going too dark.

The film: LLumar Dual-Reflective DRN35.

About this film: The lightest film in the series: about a third of visible light gets through, it still turns back roughly half of the sun’s heat, and it stays low-reflective inside so the evening view is clear.

Residential window film →
Great room with tall windows in an Okoboji lake home

Lake home · Okoboji, IA

Okoboji lake home

Repeat client: we had already filmed their home in Dakota Dunes.

The need: The same results at their vacation home.

The film: LLumar Vista Ultima V14.

About this film: Vista is LLumar’s premium residential line. Ultima is its darkest dual-reflective film: about 10% visible light and roughly 80% of solar heat rejected, with a low-reflective interior for night views.

Residential window film →
Sunroom with tall gabled windows in Jefferson, South Dakota

Home · Jefferson, SD · 2025

Wynnstone home

A home in the Wynnstone community, with a sunroom glazed on three sides.

The need: The room takes sun nearly all day. Cut the heat.

The film: LLumar Vista Ultima V14.

About this film: The darkest of Vista’s dual-reflective films, picked for a room that bakes in the sun all day. It turns back roughly 80% of solar heat and keeps the inside view clear at night.

Light and heat figures are LLumar’s published numbers for each film on single-pane clear glass. Real results vary with the glass, so we confirm the right film for your windows at the estimate.

Film types

The films.

REFLECTIVE

Most heat out.

Mirrored on both sides, so it rejects the most heat and gives strong daytime privacy. At night the inside of the glass turns into a mirror. Best for offices used mainly by day.

DUAL-REFLECTIVE

Heat control, clear nights.

Mirrored outside, low-glare inside. You keep most of the heat control and still see out after dark. Our usual choice for homes and evening rooms, and Vista’s version is the premium pick.

DELUXE

Dark, not mirrored.

A deeper tint with very little shine inside or out. It cuts glare and adds privacy without the mirrored-building look.

DECORATIVE FROST

Privacy day and night.

Frosted and etched looks blur the view but let light through. Unlike reflective film, the privacy works around the clock. It is for privacy, not heat.

Good to know: reflective privacy only works toward the brighter side. By day, people outside see a mirror. At night, with lights on inside, they can see in. For privacy around the clock, frost or blinds are the answer.

LLumar families include Reflective, Dual-Reflective, Deluxe, Neutral, Low-E, Ceramic, Specialty and Exterior.
