Privacy Window Film
Privacy film choices depend on one question first: when do you need privacy?

| Need | Film type | How it works | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daytime, still see out | Reflective / dual-reflective | Works when it is brighter outside than inside | Reverses at night with lights on inside |
| Day and night | Frosted or patterned | Obscures in both directions | No clear view out |
| Partial | Gradient or band | Blocks the eye-level zone only | Partial view |
| Total | Opaque privacy film | Blocks the view in both directions | Light transmission depends on the selected product; blackout films eliminate daylight |
Privacy window film FAQ
Is there true one-way film? No film is one-way at all times. Reflective film gives privacy during the day when it’s brighter outside, but at night with lights on inside, people can see in. For privacy around the clock, choose frosted or decorative film.
Best film for a bathroom window? Frosted or decorative film is the usual choice: it lets daylight in and gives privacy day and night.
Best privacy for a street-facing living room? For daytime privacy with a clear view out, reflective film works well. If you also want privacy at night, add frosted or decorative film on the lower panes or use window coverings after dark.
Can privacy film also reduce heat? Reflective films give daytime privacy and cut sun heat at the same time. We’ll bring samples so you can see the balance on your own windows. Most projects run about $9–$16 per square foot installed.
